The Key To Better Sounding Tom Samples

For the longest time, I could never get tom samples to sound right in my mixes. I didn't have this problem with kicks and snares, I would just add my samples, and I was good to go, but any time I tried that with toms, they would sound muddy, undefined, and just in general, not so good.
